Manager’s report
Finally managed to get a squad out for Heywood the day before the session with Steve Moss, Steve Wingrove and Pete Smith stepping in to save the day. With Nigel Metcalfe, Gerry Markland, Keith Yardley and Mike Brett making the 7. We broke our goalscoring duck in the first game against Rochdale. Pete Smith sidestepped his man and fired a shot into the far corner. Keith Yardley followed that up with a shot the keeper couldn't hold. Could have scored more but settled for the 2-0 win. We were brought down to earth by our bogey team Bolton. We must feel sorry for them, this is the 3rd time we gave given them a penalty. Lost 0-1. Tight game against 2nd in the league Panthers, had a chance for the win, but Mike Brett crashed his penalty against the crossbar instead of the net and it finished 0-0. Final game against league leaders Ribble, was a tight affair finishing 0-0. Which has been the result in 6 of the 7 times we played them. Well played everyone. Thanks to everyone who took part. Special mention to Nigel, who sometimes can be taken for granted. Only beaten by a penalty.
