Manager’s report

Tameside Striders played today in the over 75s league at Heywood starting the day in 2nd place in the league.

1st game was against Rochdale Strollers. It was an even game, but we took early advantage when Rob Rowney was fouled, leading to a penalty that Rob scored confidently. Rochdale were awarded a penalty late in the game. Terry Hayden stepped up and pulled off a superb save, which gave us 3 points instead of 1.

2nd game was against Ribble Valley, a good team, starting the day in 3rd place just a point behind us. The final score was 0-0. Ribble Valley went on to complete four 0-0 draws.

3rd game was against Blackpool. We played really well in this game, creating lots of chances and scoring 3 of them. Pete Jarvis advanced forward, scoring his annual goal. Rob Rowney scored 2 goals, and one of them was unusual. Rob shot from about 30 metres, Terry Harrison was blocking their keepers' view, so when Terry moved, the ball went in their goal.

4th game was against the top of the league Bury Relics. Another tough game, both teams played well, and the result of 0-0 was a fair result.
The guys played so well.

No goals conceded,
2 wins, 2 draws.
8 points on the day,
4 points clear at the top of the league. (Same as the over 70s)

Well done guys.
