Manager’s report 2026 season - Colin Fielding 

The over 70s played at Heywood today in the 1st game of this seasons Division 1 of the over 70s league.

We played MOSTON BROOK in our first game and played well. However, late in the game, we conceded a sloppy goal, losing the game 0-1.

In the second game we played SALCOM, and we played well with Terry Heyden outstanding in goal. Steve Howard made his debut at Heywood and generally played well.
The result was a 0-0 draw.

Next game we played against Bury Relics, last seasons Champions. It was always going to be a tough game. We put Neil Gaskell into defence and Steve Howard up front. This worked well, and Steve produced a bit of skill and scored what proved to be the winning goal. Neil strenthened the defence playing alongside John Leech.
Result: excellent Win 1-0

Final game against WINSTANLEY WALKERS. This was a hard fought game with our midfield players winning the battle. Thanks to Brian Hadfield, Pete Smith, and Rob Rowney. We were awarded a penalty, which Rob Rowney stepped up and smashed the ball into the net. However the opposition were also awarded a penalty in the last few seconds of the game. Up stepped our hero and saved the penalty, and I would say he was our player of day. Terry was outstanding in all our games.
