Manager’s report - Mike Brett

Bit of a saga getting at team out for Heywood this month. Roy Smith offered to play in goals & we had to borrow goalkeeping gloves from Bolton. Terry Harrison stepped in to help and picked up Roy, who was without transport.Pete Smith agreed to help out despite the fact he was only landing at 9 o'clock from Spain and missed the first game.Barry Groom agreed to step in so that at least we could put a team out in the first game.Despite all that, we defended stoutly and drew the first 3 games 0-0. It looked like another 0-0 against runaway leaders Preston, when a hopeful flick sailed over Roys head, couldn't believe the referee gave the goal. That deflated us and we conceded again a minute later.Huge thanks to everyone for the shift they put in.
Just a footnote:-There was some people filming and taking down stats. One of them commented on the fact we had put together over a hundred passes in one of the games, just a pity didn't lead to a goal.
